Death Valley Shots

This is Sunday night and I'm sitting on my bed in The Jazz while John soaks in the spa at the Circus Circus KOA in Las Vegas (Nevada) where we've spent the last two days. We stayed here about twenty-two years ago not long after we married. It has aged and so have we. In fact, we think we have aged out of the Las Vegas scene.

That said, we're leaving tomorrow to head back into nature. We had spent several days in Death Valley National Park (California) at the Furnace Creek Campground before arriving in Las Vegas for a grocery and laundry stop. Here are some of my favorite shots from our time in Death Valley.

Leaving Artist's Drive at sunset.

Along Artist's Drive.

Artist's Pallete.

Original 20 Mule Team wagons. This is where Borax was mined.

John said that he really started coming alive in Death Valley. What about you. Do you prefer Death Valley to Las Vegas?

Lovely photos. The first one looks like a painting! Well done. The last one would too except for the people. Very nice!

Love the photos and definitely prefer Death Valley to Las Vegas. We arrived yesterday and feel like a sardine in a can. Enjoy yourselves!

I've never been to Death Valley but I've been to Vegas. I'd think that each fills a need - for fun or solitude.

I have been in both and Death Valley I liked very much. Had never seen something like that before. So desolated and beautiful with different colours. But so very hot. Las Vegas I had never seen this before either, but it looked weird, so over the top and all those electric lights. Such a waste.

Death Valley for me. Haven't been there in years, though. You captured its stark beauty magnificently. Thanks for the memories.

We are headed for LV in April and then Death Valley. We have been to LV and enjoy looking at all the bright lights. This will be our first visit to DV. I think we may enjoy DV more. ~wheresweaver

So nice to see that the Jazz crew are taking time for a vacation. As you, Vegas just doesn't seem to have the allure for me as it once did. As for Death Valley it seems I have always missed visting there on my travels. If I had a list it would be on it. Have always wanted to experience the heat on a hot summer day just for the sake of doing it!
Enjoy seeing your wonderful pics!

We've been to Vegas several times but I definitely know that Death Valley would be my preference even though I've never been there. I now have another place to put on my list of places to see. Beautiful photos.

A little bit of Vegas goes a long way ... the noise, the crowds, the lights, the traffic ... so I'd have to go with Death Valley as the place to come alive, even though we've not been there ... yet.
